hardwork vs betterluck

[i saved the world today - eurhytmics]

arent you just tired of people telling you to work harder to get a better luck? these people, they got lucky once and all of the sudden they are the pundits of working hard! they think they know everything about working hard. ok then let me ask, which one of these is working harder? spending 8 hours a day in a gym, spending 8 hours a day playing guitar, or spending 8 hours a day working to support yourself? which one of these would make you like michael jordan, john mayer, or me.

[into the west - annie lennox]

hey, im all for working hard! but better luck is totally unrelated to working hard or hardly working. keeping your eyes, ears and mouth open is the way to increase your chance of getting better opportunities. you have to always lobby, sell yourself, and exaggerate. i believe i can emphatize with those characters who dont have the ability to manufacture a great verbal communication in order to self-promote them. hey, great news! those too are not a guarantee ticket to "luckyness."

[17 again - eurhytmics]

luck is a whole different kind of animal. and like my friend 'don pancho' - the butcher always said, "it is the best part of the animal." i dont know how to get it, when to get it, or who will get it. what i really know is, i am the luckiest person in the entire history of the universe and you could feel the same too.

[waiting in vain - annie lennox]

the goldern opportunity you are seeking is in yourself. it is not in your environmnet; it is not in luck or chance, or the help of others; it is in yourself alone.......orison swett marden.
